Canon Pixma MX882

User 1: This is a great printer and gets a five star rating from me. Here are my observations so far with it…

*It has an easy-to-read LCD which is also user-friendly.

*Installation is easy and takes less than 30 minutes to get everything working perfectly out of the box.

*The picture quality is superb

*The wireless connection is a very useful feature since it allows you to print without the hassles of cables.

*The ink comes in five individual cartridges which makes it a lot easier for you to just replace whichever runs out without having to worry about the whole lot.

*The scanner works well. It allows you to scan to your pc or straight to your email.

This unit is very user-friendly which means it is definitely for you if you know you are NOT a geek but still want top quality prints and some cool features like wireless.

User 2: This is a five star printer — No argument. It does a particularly good job of making things easy for those who are NOT geeks to go about their tasks with ease be it scanning, copying, faxing or printing.

The wireless feature is commendable but more so the ease with which you can have it set up. This folks have paid special attention to making things easy.

This printer is visually appealing and does print top quality and does so fast. However, I have an issue with the black plastic body which seems to easily collect dust and is tough to keep clean always. Another issue I have with this printer is that you can’t have both ethernet connection and wireless simultaneously. You have to choose one at a time.

In spite of these two issues, this is a great buy for me. It is a far cry from all those troublesome multi-function units I have bought in the past. This is recommended to anyone who wants a multi-function without the hassles that usually come with a lot of them.

Canon PIXMA MP495

User 1: If you are looking for a unit that will handle document and photo printing plus scanning, then this is a good option. However, consider the points I raise in this review before you make your final decision…

*Installation isn’t easy and, if you are NOT very computer savvy, you will have a hard time getting everything set up — Especially getting the wifi to work. Here are other things you should bear in mind…

*This is a competent document printer. It also does photo printing very well. The quality I got from it was better than what I got from HP Photosmart 385. Add to this the fact that it also does it faster and you will agree with me that this is good performance. The scanner has an average software that does the job. It delivers good image quality and does it in good time. It takes about 20 seconds from initialization to completion.

The wifi is a very good feature but like I pointed earlier, setting it up isn’t easy. So I’d recommend that you get a competent computer person around. But once you get it configured, the convenience and benefits are quite worth it.

The running cost is something you need to be very mindful of. By my calculation, I sawa that it cost me around 19 cents per photo (That’s NOT adding paper cost). Yes, it the photo prints are excellent quality but you could print your photos online for as little as 5 cents per photo.

Another thing I think you need to factor in before deciding to buy this unit is if you can handle the configuration or are willing to get a computer geek to do it for you.

The Canon PIXMA MP495 is great as a product and does what it does very well but you just have to bear in mind the cost and setup difficulty. If you do then you’d be very happy with your purchase.

User 2: This unit definitely comes at a great price and delivers top quality prints. This would easily have got a five star rating from me but for the difficulty in installation partly due to a lot of unnecessary software loading up and making the entire process a pain.

I hate the bubble that sits permanently on my desktop. It would have been a great idea if they gave me the option of having it there or NOT. Another annoyance has to do with the settings for printing. It prints in reverse order and NO matter what I did, I still can’t get it to print in the order I want.

The print you get from this is good and the cost is very enticing. If you have a way of coping with the software then this would be a great purchase otherwise you’d better stay away from it.

Brother Printer HL-2220 Monochrome Printer — User Reviews

Before you buy the Brother Printer HL-2220 Monochrome Printer, read these reviews from real users (They will help you determine if this printer is your best option or if you should go for something else. For folks who’d like to see product description, specs and features, click this link)…

Brother Printer HL-2220 Monochrome Printer

User 1: This is a no-frilss laser printer that comes at a great price and I give it a four star rating for that. On the pros side, it is compact, easy to set up and delivers quality prints.

On the cons side, mine did NOT come with a USB cable included for which I deducted the one star rating (This would have been a five star rating if the manufacturer included the USB cable). I also consider it a little noisy when it’s in standby mode. However, if you leave it in that mode for long enough, it goes into a noise-free power save mode.

If yours is a small office or a home office, this should serve you well.

User 2: I owned an HL1440 for six years and was happy with how it acquitted itself in the heavy-duty service I demanded of it. So you can see that I had little difficulty making up my mind to get for the HL2220 which costs less than what I paid for my old faithful workhorse.

I must say that compared to the HL 1440, this one has more standard memory but it also feels less substantial, is lighter and smaller. Set up was quite easy and painless. I am impressed by the print quality. I don’t find it to be noisy even though reviews I read said it was — My experience has been different.

This is quite inexpensive. However, take note that the documentation isn’t all it should be and I have experienced wrinkles in envelopes. Compared to my old HL1440, this is cheaper and also feels that way. But that said, I don’t regret my purchase. No, not if I compare the difference in price. The HL2220 does the job well even if I preferred my old workhorse.

User 3: I am happy that this is Mac compatible. I am NOT a heavy user by any definition since I only print under 50 pages a year. However, I just got tired of inkjet printers and their problems. I’ve been getting clear prints for the cost of two inkjet catridges.

User 4: I had read that this printer was noisy but because of the great price, I went ahead and bought it. I figured that I’d find a way to deal with the noise or cope with it. However, I must tell you that the only noise it makes is when it’s just warming up the toner or something when you start it up. Furthermore, this does NOT take up to 30 seconds. After this period, it doesn’t make any more noise NOT if you compare it with an HP inkjet.

I recommend this printer since it’s so good that I am sure I will get another unit. If you use Linux, there’s support for it too. It’s easy to set up. I was printing within five minutes of opening the box.

Brother Printer HL2270DW Wireless Monochrome Printer — Real User Reviews

Before you buy the Brother Printer HL2270DW Wireless Monochrome Printer, read the following reviews from real users (That is, if you want to ensure you are buying what’s best for your current needs and budget)…

Now, take note that you won’t see a product description, specs or features here. If you need those, click this link here: Product details. Now let’s get into what users have to say about this printer…

Brother HL-2270DW Compact Laser Printer

User 1: First off, I give this printer a 5 star rating. It prints fast, has great print quality, gives you more connectivity options that include WiFi, has an automatic duplexer, supports windows XP upwards, supports Mac OS X and Linux, is visually appealing and comes at a good price.

However, it’s NOT all good points when it comes to the HL2270DW Wireless Monochrome Printer. It has things I don’t like about it: Starter toner is rated at only 700 pages, uses a different and more expensive toner to the older 2170W, the Wifi is limited to 802.11b/g and it has a slight curl for duplex printouts.

If you are looking for a printer that will do the job and do it well, go for this printer. It’s good bargain for money.

User 2: I also give this printer a five star rating. For one, I like the fact that it is easy to set up and is truly unbelievable value for the price. I needed a printer with good reviews that had wireless and so far I haven’t been disappointed.

If all this printer had was just laser printing and reliable wireless, I’d still have considered it a good deal but to really find out that it does pack a lot more, makes me happy. There are some features I find particularly appealing. Top among them is the booklet feature…

With this feature, you will have your print outs arranged in such a way that all you have to do is fold the stack in half and you’d have a perfect booklet. If you have 40 pages in standard print, choosing the booklet option while printing will take just five sheets. I know I have NOT describe it well enough for you to appreciate how cool it is but if you end up buying this printer, you’ll enjoy that feature.

User 3: I am a lay person when it comes to wireless and routers. So you can appreciate the fact that set up is usually a concern for people like us. However, with the Brother Printer HL2270DW Wireless I didn’t have to bother at all. It was by far the easiest installation I have ever had with any piece of wireless hardware.

This manufacturer put in great effort to ensure that their manual was very user-friendly. This is one manual that really shows you what to do — NOT confuse you. I didn’t really have to do much after inserting the installation disk in the drives of the different systems on my network. Yes, it was that easy.

One thing you just have to bear in mind if you are considering this system is that it has a problem with paper curling. It might NOT serve you well if you plan to use it for business presentations but for those of us who just have this printer for personal use, we have NO qualms with this.

So how do I rate this printer? Honestly, in spite of the minor setback with paper curling, I still give it a five star rating. It’s definitely good value for money.

User 4: I give this printer a four star rating. Here are things I really like about it: Due to its wireless feature, I don’t have to deal with cable clutter. I can also put it wherever I consider to be the best spot for it in the house and be able to print without hassles.

I also picked it because it’s laser and, as you might well know already, prints faster and a lot cheaper than inkjet. I don’t need colored prints most of the time and, by the way, the details I get for graphics in black and white are more than adequate for most of my needs. In the rare ocassions that I need full color, I’d go for that.

You will also love the fact that this printer does auto duplexing. For those of us who speak English it means that you get to print at both the front and back of your sheets without having to manually flip the papers. This will save you about half your costs in printing paper and a lot of time too.

Set up is very easy unless you really don’t know a thing about computers. It’s also quite reasonably priced for the features I’ve listed. I couldn’t find anything in its price range that was laser, had wireless and auto duplexing. So this is definitely value for money.

If it’s that good, why didn’t I give it a five star rating? I gave it a four star rating because there isn’t any third party toner yet. Worse still, even the toners brother made for this printer are NOT so easy to find at the moment and aren’t that cheap either. This makes the cost of printing per page as high as 3.5 cents. But once cheaper toners are rolled out either from Brother or third-party manufacturers, then it would definitely be five stars.
